Min Jung (conductor of the female choir Uncinus) grew up in Suwon, South Korea. She successfully took part in composition competitions at an early age, winning 3rd prize at the Paichai University competition in Daejeon (March 2004). From 2005 to 2009, she studied composition with Prof Dong-hwan Kim and choral conducting with Prof Hak-won Yoon at Chung-Ang University in Seoul. She was awarded 1st prize in the choir conducting competition organised by the Korean Catholic Community in Seoul. In 2014, she took part in the Baroque Ensemble Conductor study programme with Prof. Sun-Ah Kim at Yonsei University, Seoul, for two semesters. After several years as a choir conductor (including 2010 to 2011: conducting a children’s choir; 2014 to 2015: conducting the Sogang-Logos Choir of Sogang University, Seoul), as a singing teacher and as an active singer (2014 to 2016: participation in Collegium Vokale Seoul), she moved to Europe and began studying church music at the University of Church Music of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart (from October 2016). During her studies, she conducted several choirs, including the Stiftschor of the Catholic parish of Horb am Neckar from 2019 to 2021. After successfully completing her Bachelor’s degree in Catholic Church Music, she went on to study for a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting (since 2022). The main subject lecturer is Prof. Christian Schmid (Rottenburg/Stuttgart). Parallel to her Master’s degree, she works as a deanery church musician in Heidenheim.
