Michael Heißel was born in Sigmaringen in 1991 and grew up in Gammertingen on the Swabian Alb. He obtained his general qualification for university entrance in 2010 at the Wirtschaftsgymnasium in Sigmaringen. After a training period of three years, he completed his C-level training in church music at the Sigmaringen District Cantorate of the Archdiocese of Freiburg in 2015. He studied organ literature and organ improvisation with cantor Dina Trost in Pfullendorf.
From 2010 to 2015, he studied sports science (main subject) and the minor subjects of mathematics, economics and musicology at the University of Education in Weingarten alongside his C-level training, where he passed his first state examination to become a secondary school teacher.
From 2016 to 2022, he studied Bachelor of Catholic Church Music at the University of Church Music in Rottenburg am Neckar. He studied organ literature with Prof. Jens Wollenschläger and organ improvisation with Prof. Gerd. Kaufmann. He completed his teacher training for the teaching profession at secondary level I with the second state examination in 2022.
He has been working as a teacher at the secondary school in Radolfzell on Lake Constance since September 2022 and has lived in Ludwigshafen-Bodman since then. He also continues to work part-time as a church musician (choir conducting and organ playing).
