Jinseok Kim

Korean-born baritone Jinseok Kim began his musical life with piano lessons at the age of seven. He later joined the youth choir of the Christian Broadcasting System in Gwangju, where he began studying singing at the Gwangju Arts School and then later at Chonnam National University in Gwangju.

In October 2017, Kim began his master’s degree at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under the guidance of Professors Andreas Macco and later Christoph Strehl, specializing in Lieder and oratorio with Professor Pauliina Tukiainen. He completed a postgraduate program at the Mozarteum with Christoph Strehl in 2021. In October 2023, he successfully concluded his concert exam with Professor Andreas Reibenspies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen. Since April 2022, Kim has been pursuing a master’s degree in singing/vocal pedagogy under Christine Müller at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik der Diözese Rottenburg-Stuttgart. He has participated in masterclasses led by renowned artists such as Natela Nicoli, Ronald Pries, and Mario Hoff, as well as at the Opera Academy in Weikersheim.

Kim’s performance highlights include appearing as a soloist in the Korean opera “Mudeungdung” in 2019. He made his debut in September 2011 as Marullo in Verdi’s “Rigoletto” in Gwangju, followed by a performance in Munich in March 2018 in a Viennese musical-literary program, which was broadcasted on radio. He has portrayed roles such as the Count in Philippe Boesman’s contemporary opera “Reigen” and participated in Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” in Salzburg in 2021. Kim was invited to join the Schola of the Rundfunkchor Berlin in 2022 and has performed as a soloist in Johann Sebastian Bach’s “St John Passion” in Rottenburg and Pfullingen in 2023. In the same year, he sang Dulcamara in Donizetti’s opera “L’elisir d’amore” in Weikersheim. In addition, he has been a soloist and ensemble singer in numerous secular and sacred concerts.

Kim is an active member of the Bamberg Symphonic Choir and serves as a vocal coach for the Münster-Chormusik in Rottweil. He also active as a conductor, leading the church choirs of Fischingen and Bieringen.
